Re:Imagining Change: How to Use Story-Based Strategy to Win Campaigns, Build Movements, and Change the World

by Doyle Canning & Patrick Reinsborough

Thursday, September 8

2 pm – 3:30 pm

Storytelling can be a valuable volunteer management skill whether recruiting new volunteers, explaining volunteer impact to your colleagues, or capturing the moment for a grant proposal. After reading Re:Imagining Change: How to Use Story-Based Strategy to Win Campaigns, Build Movements, and Change the World (2017) we will discuss how, as volunteer managers, we can discover storytelling skills as another powerful tool to impact our world. Our special guest for our discussion is Professor John D. Trybus, Ph.D., Executive Director of Georgetown University's Center for Social Impact Communication. Dr. Trybus’ work includes on how to engage volunteers in story efforts. And, as he begins to develop new research and writing projects, he is seeking input on what the volunteer management community would like in a future social impact storytelling book.
